How to Get your Mojo Back

Get out of your Funk and back in the Game

We have all been there, got the T-Shirt and then some. But how do you get Mojo back when you feel like you have lost it and then some?

So, you to drown yourself in your coffee, burn your bunny slippers and throw away that stupid box set of Friends that is just not doing its job anymore.  We get it and yes, we have all been there at some point in our lives.  Maybe more often than we care to mention.  Why is it so hard?  How do some people just seem to get it right? Why do you feel like such a loser?

We could throw a few clichéd phrases around and quote lyrics from Eye of the Tiger; which may give us that warm and fuzzy feeling for a short while but the truth is; we have to find what works for us deep down in our soul. And although we ourselves are ultimately responsible for our own happiness, this is not to say that there are not outside circumstances that can affect us.

Start of by evaluating what is causing you the most stress or unhappiness –  work, friends, family, money, house, spouse…just to name a few.

Is there something you can change? Make a list or put a plan together to help you achieve the changes you need to make.  Call a friend and ask them to back you and keep you on track. After all, what are friends for?

If you can’t change the situation, can you make peace with it and move on?  Sometimes simply letting something go can give you the greatest peace. Like, does it really matter that Joyce from accounts keeps parking in your spot…which is not really your spot because its first come first serve parking? NO. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Keep yourself motivated and positive.  Your bestie may help you as you start your new self-improvement project, but at some point you are going to have to stand on your own two feet.  What inspires and moves you?

There is an old saying about there being two wolves inside of us, and the one that wins is the one we feed.  So be mindful of your thoughts, negative self talk is not what you need. Sometimes, we are our own worst enemy. What we think is what we become.  And this, is most probably the biggest challenge of all. This, is what sets winners apart from losers.

Find the beauty in the everyday and celebrate it.  What are you grateful for?  Your wardrobe may not be filled with Louis Vuitton and you may not drive a Ferrari…  but if you stopped to smell the roses and take stock of your life… you will see that you have it better than most.

Yes, we are allowed to have off days, but don’t let it dictate having an off life.  It all boils down to building good, healthy habits. For me personally, my mind is where my biggest demons lie.  So, I know, I have to keep that beast in check so it does not get the better of me.  Sometimes, you gotta be tough and stand in front of the mirror and say “Beast, I will cut you, don’t you dare turn this beautiful day into a crappy one”  And mean it.

Finally, keep your head in the GAME. So what if your butt is not what it used to be?  Now there is just more of you to love.  Keep it real. Rome was not built in a day, so be realistic. Make small changes that will end with big results.  And if you just want to let off some steam, head for the gym and beat that punching bag and make it sorry.  We won’t judge you, but whatever you do, don’t give up.  You have survived your entire life up till this point, which makes you totally badass.

You go MOFO, aint nobody taking your Mojo!
